“Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (v3).  Jesus said that the phrase “to be born again” describes what happens when we surrender ourselves to God.  When we believe that Jesus is our salvation (v16), we stop trying to save ourselves.  When we turn from our sins and accept God’s mercy, we are rescued from condemnation (v17), and God’s own Spirit comes to live in us(v5-6).

In Christ, we are reborn as God’s sons and daughters (John 1: 12).  Day by day we grow into our new identities as our lives are transformed by love and obedience.
