Jeremiah 45-46

“But fear not, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel, for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity” (46:27).  While one generation saw the destruction of Jerusalem, God promised that Israel/Jacob itself, the people of God, would not disappear. Even though Babylon was so mighty it would soon even conquer Egypt (v25-26), it could not destroy God’s promises.  The exiles would return to Judah, and God would send them the Messiah.

“Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid” (46:27).  No matter what conflicts are shaking the earth, our hearts can be at rest, because God is King.
