“And they rose up before Moses …” (v2).  Korah, leader of the Levites, and others were jealous of Moses and resentful of his authority, as well as discontented with their role as Levites, subordinate to the priests (v8).  They tried to use the truth - that all God’s people are holy, v3 - in a manipulative way in order to steal power.  God saw that their hearts were far from Him, and their rebellion threatened the whole nation, and so they were punished (v30).

“Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men …” (v26).  Attitudes and behaviors are contagious.  We are one Body, called to encourage one another toward righteousness, not sin.
