Psalm 63

“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (v1).  The psalmist recognized that his own deepest desires could only be met by God Himself.  Our restless, dissatisfied, discontented selves look for satisfaction elsewhere: in pleasure, in new experiences, in distractions and possessions. Yet our thirst is only truly quenched in knowing God. “My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food” (v5).

“Your steadfast love is better than life” (v3).  God’s love fills up our emptiness and gives us strength to truly live.
