Isaiah 49
/“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob … I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth” (v6). God wanted Israel to repent and return to Him, and He also wanted “the nations” to know Him. He promised to send His Servant to lead prisoners out of darkness (v9-12) and to open a path for those coming from “afar” (v12).
Jesus still welcomes the broken, the weary, and the humble. “They shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them, for he who has pity on them will lead them …” (v10).
