I Kings 6-7
“Concerning this house that you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my rules and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you” (6:12). The “house” that Solomon was building served as a sacred place for the Israelites to meet with God, and a visual reminder of His awesome glory. However, the Temple was meaningless unless the Israelites obeyed God’s command to “walk in my statutes and obey my rules.”
“And I will dwell among the children of Israel” (6:13). The glorious Temple pointed toward the coming Messiah, who would redeem people from every nation and make us “a dwelling place for God by the Spirit” (Eph 2).
