Matthew 21

“There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard … and leased it to tenants and went into another country …” (v33).  Jesus’ parables often show the interplay between God’s initiative and our response.  The master planted the vineyard, and in the previous parable, the man commanded his sons to work in the vineyard (v28).  In both cases, God is the Creator and owner who reaches out to us, and we must choose to respond.

Jesus said that God’s “way of righteousness” is clear, but we must embrace it eagerly. Like the “tax collectors and prostitutes,” we must want the kingdom Jesus brings (v32).
