Mark 10

“How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!’ And the disciples were amazed at his words” (v23-24).  The disciples struggled to grasp Jesus’ radical picture of the kingdom of God. They didn’t understand why Jesus wanted the rich young ruler to give up his wealth, and they still thought sharing Jesus’ glory would mean sharing victory and status (v37).  Instead, Jesus explained that those who wanted to enter His kingdom could only come humble and empty-handed, like children (v15).

“Even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve …” (v45). Jesus showed us what real love and real power look like, and we can only follow Him.
