Numbers 10-11

“And the people of Israel also wept again and said, “Oh that we had meat to eat!” (11:4). In the desert, the Israelites grew tired of miraculous grain from heaven (manna) and began to wish they were back in Egypt.  They craved not just meat, but fish, melons, onions, etc (11:5); in fact, they were imagining the good things Egypt while forgetting their slavery.  God said their real problem was lack of trust in Him: “You have rejected the Lord who is among you” (11:20).

“For it was better for us in Egypt” (11:18). Sin loses its attractiveness when we begin to know and trust Jesus.  His will for us is better than all the world’s treasures.
