Luke 23
/“A man named Joseph …he was looking for the kingdom of God” (v51). Jesus wasn’t surprised that the crowds turned against him, and even his own disciples left him at the end. He gave his life anyway, even pleading, “Father, forgive them” (v34). His death (accompanied by cosmic signs) finally awoke many to who He really was. The criminal who recognized Jesus’ innocence, the centurion who praised God, and Joseph who put Jesus’ body in the tomb all saw, on the cross, God’s kingdom revealed.
“Today you will be with me in paradise” (v43). Jesus doesn’t hold our past ignorance or sin against us. The moment we seek His kingdom sincerely, He welcomes us home.
