Job 25-26
/“Dominion and fear are with God …” (25:2). Job’s friend Bildad finished “comforting” Job by stating the obvious, that God’s righteousness and power are far above humans. Job answered sarcastically, “How you have counseled him who has no wisdom!” (25:3). Job’s disasters had forced him to reckon with a God infinitely greater than human understanding. “The pillars of heaven tremble and are astounded at His rebuke. By His power He stilled the sea …” (26:11-12). He longed to understand more.
Job knew he only heard a “small whisper” of our infinite Creator (26:14). We can’t reach Him, but He came to us. Job’s desire to know God more foreshadowed the day when the great Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
