Psalm 49
/“People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish” (20). The psalmist called out to “both high and low, rich and poor alike” (1), proclaiming the truth that we are all mortal and accountable to God (10). Those who “trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches” (6) cannot save their lives; despite money, health, and advantages, no one avoids death (17- 19). Wisdom is living with the end in mind – knowing we will meet God.
“But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself” 15). By placing our lives in God’s hands, we can live with confidence that we are his, now and beyond death.
