One device to play the backing track (computer or phone).
Best option: this should be a computer with either headphones or earbuds.
Second device to make the recording (cell phone in Landscape Mode (on it’s side))
Best option: this should be a phone set for selfie-mode video
Recording Process
Set your “device one” (your computer, phone or tablet) to play the audio file through headphones
Note: If you do not have headphones or ear buds, contact us so we can arrange a time so we can help you record here at church.Make sure we do not have the accompaniment in your recording!
Set your “device two” (best if it’s a phone) to video recording (someone else should hold the camera)
Start Recording on Device Two (the one filming you)
Hit play on Device One with the audio backing track
Sing the whole song (when music stops, count to 10 in your head before you end the recording) then tap stop on the recording when you have finished
Repeat the process if you don’t like the results, but don’t worry too much if there are little things. This will be like a Sunday morning - one voice mixed with the whole choir!

Things to think about when you record
Wear something Christmas-y! — color is nice!
Avoid other logo-wear, please. Think about what is behind you in the video — stand where the background is either plain, or else ‘less busy’ — we want YOU to be the focus.
Someone else should hold the camera, or set it up on a stable platform, so that you can be “framed” such that you are visible from your waist up. See the image below for an idea of framing.
Think about your facial expressions — it’s difficult to be an “expressive choir singer” when you are not standing with the rest of the choir, but do your best to communicate the emotion of the piece we are singing.
Frame your picture close to this:
