Psalm 61

“Lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (v2).  At the heart of the psalms is this cry for help, for comfort, and for salvation.   King David the psalmist said that he learned to pray “when my heart is faint,” and he found God to be merciful, kind, powerful, and trustworthy - the Rock.  The only requirement for receiving help from the Creator is humility; the psalmist recognized his own weakness and saw the Lord as “refuge,” “strong tower,” and sheltering wings (v3).

“Hear my cry, O God” (v1).  God delights in our prayers and surrounds us with “steadfast love and faithfulness” (v7).
