Psalm 63
/“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you” (v1). The psalmist’s words express the sincere desire of his heart for fellowship with God. His words are also a declaration of faith; though we are tempted to satisfy our thirsty hearts with other things, the only true answer to our emptiness is God himself. This, the psalmist learned by experience: “Your steadfast love is better than life” (v3), and “you have been my help” (v7).
“My soul clings to you” (v8). The world offers many options for distraction, entertainment, ego-building, and comfort, but in the end only God himself can satisfy our desires.
