Psalm 58

“Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth" (v11).  The psalmist pointed out that the current world system, governed by corrupt leaders and evil spiritual powers (“gods”), harms everyone.  “In your hearts you devise wrongs; your hands deal out violence on the earth” (v2).  But we are not at the mercy of this system; God is our defender and protector.  When the evil one aims arrows at us, the psalmist prays, “let them be blunted” (v7).

God pours out grace on all who ask, and there will be a final day of judgment (v7-11).  He will not allow evil to win; His good purposes will be victorious.
