II Kings 13-14

"Therefore the LORD gave Israel a savior, so that they escaped from the hand of the Syrians, and the people of Israel lived in their homes as formerly” (13:5).  Even though the Israelites were suffering due to their own rebellion, God had mercy and listened when they called out to Him (13:4). Briefly, they lived in peace, though their rescue did not motivate them to change (v6).  Nevertheless, a generation later, God “saved them by the hand of Jeroboam” (14:27).

“For the LORD saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter” (14:26).  Even when our trouble is self-caused, even when we sin, God our Redeemer comes to save us.
