Psalm 77

“I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds” (v12).  Like many of us, the psalmist found that his daytime troubles became overwhelming at night (v2-4).  Awake and full of anguish, he turned to his mind to the Lord, God’s past works, and his “song in the night”.  “Let me meditate in my heart” (v6).  This discipline, or “diligent search” (v6), led him to remember God’s power, faithfulness, and lovingkindness toward His people (v10-15).

Life’s troubles can weigh us down and disturb our rest.  Meditating on what God has done, for the world and for us personally, brings light into the darkness, renewing our faith, even when His footprints remain unseen (v19).
