Deuteronomy 22-23
/“You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again” (v4). The Mosaic Law envisioned a society based on mutual respect and help. Rather than each person looking out for himself/herself, the Law urged people to treat their neighbors as they would want to be treated. As people acted with honor and integrity, societal trust could grow, and the whole nation would thrive.
Every nation on earth is shadowed by sin. Yet, as citizens of God’s eternal kingdom, we make a difference in our communities as we live according to His ways.
