Psalm 47

“God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne” (v8).  There is great comfort in knowing that God rules over all creation, all peoples, creatures, and things.  Because of God’s mercy, He does not force His rule; in this era of salvation, He patiently works in our world to call us back to Himself through the sacrifice of His Son.  God is to be feared (v2), yet He has revealed Himself through the person of Jesus Christ who made himself “as a servant” (Phil 2:7).

We were created “by him and for him” (Col 1:16), and we thrive in every way when our lives submit to God’s authority.
