Luke 21

“By your endurance you will gain your lives” (v19).  Jesus taught that the value of our lives extends far beyond our years on earth.  Everything that is given to God, everything that is redeemable by Christ, will be saved (v28-26); the rest will perish.  This perspective changes what we invest in, how we work, what we care about, and how we face persecution or suffering.  The “poor widow” gave everything she had because her heart was guided by the eternal values of the kingdom of God (v4).

“This will be your opportunity to bear witness” (v13).  If our hearts are set on Christ, everything we say and do bears witness to Him.
