Psalm 54

“Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life” (v4).  Though the psalmist was in very real distress - “ruthless men seek my life,” - he did not obsess about his enemies, but rather kept his focus on the source of his salvation.  He cried out to God, whose character and power (v1) are more than sufficient for any trouble.  The psalmist trusted God to take action and to “put an end” to the evil forces attacking him (v5).

We can waste our energies in worry and fear, or we can focus on God, our very powerful Helper.  He cannot be shaken or destroyed by evil, and we are His beloved children.
