II Chronicles 18-20

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf” (20:17).  King Jehoshaphat had made it his personal priority to spread God’s ways among the people of Judah (19:4).  He appointed judges and charged them to “fear God.”  And when the nation was threatened by “a great multitude,” (20:2), he called the people to fast and seek God’s help (20:3-4).  In response, a Levite prophesied that “this battle is not yours, but God’s” (v15).

King Jehoshaphat spent years teaching the people to rely on God.  When disaster struck, they were ready to “stand firm … and see the salvation of the Lord.”
