Ezekiel 20-25

“Things shall not remain as they are. Exalt that which is low, and bring low that which is exalted” (21:26).  Ezekiel prophesied that King Zedekiah would be deposed, and the whole corrupt society would crumble when the Babylonians invaded.  Israel had followed the normal pattern of the world: violence, sexual sin, taking advantage of widows and foreigners, and the strong oppressing the weak (ch 22-23).  God declared that He would turn all this upside down in order to build a righteous Kingdom.

“…Until he comes, the one to whom judgment belongs, and I will give it to him” (21:27).  Jesus the Servant-King calls us to reject the idols of sex, power, and self-glorification, to “take up our cross,” and follow Him.
