Titus 1-2
/“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age” (2:11-12). God’s grace is the gift of Jesus for our salvation – God’s initiative, not something anyone can earn. Yet this same grace “trains” us to live a holy life. Paul told Titus to teach sound doctrine and to appoint leaders who could teach and model good behavior (2:3).
God saved us for a purpose: “to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works” (2:14).
