Psalm 146

“Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation” (v3).  The psalmist warned God’s people not to think that any human could be the answer to their problems.  People are imperfect and fragile and their “plans perish” (v4).  Our true help is in “the God of Jacob,” and His righteous reign changes everything.  He “keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free” (v6-7).  Under His leadership, foreigners, widows, and the fatherless find safety and peace (v9).

In our chaotic world, God calls us to acknowledge His rule and to live as citizens of His kingdom.
