Zephaniah 1-3
/“I will punish the men who are complacent, those who say in their hearts, 'The LORD will not do good, nor will he do ill” (1:12). Zephaniah warned the people of Judah who were living as if God could not see their sins. Judah’s leaders worshipped idols (1:4-8) and depended on their wealth instead of depending on God (1:18). In the end, Zephaniah prophesied, God would punish the proud, rebellious citizens and give the land to “a people humble and lowly” (3:12).
“And I will save the lame and gather the outcast” (3:15-17). Our pride separates us from God, but when we acknowledge our desperate need for Him, He always responds with mercy.
