Esther 6-7

“On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds …” (6:1). In the story of Esther, the Jewish people were nearly annihilated. They seemed to be entirely helpless, as foreigners who were hated by powerful Haman and his followers.  However, Haman’s plans were upset by a few surprising occurrences: a young Jewish queen already positioned in the palace, and a king who “just couldn’t sleep” and found the record of Mordecai’s good deed.

Esther and Mordecai were faced with a situation completely beyond their control – but not beyond God’s control.  His power to deliver us extends “far more abundantly” than we can imagine (Eph 3:20).
