Job 2-3

“After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth” (3:1).  Job refused to curse God (2:9), but after losing his children, his business, and his own health, he felt that his existence was pointless.  In his misery, Job couldn’t see any positive purpose for his life, nor any good future.  “I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes” (3:26).  Yet the test of Job’s faith had important consequences in spiritual realms (ch 1-2).

God measures the worth of our short lives very differently than we do.  Now, we only see and understand “in a mirror, dimly,” but one day we will see “face to face” (I Cor 13).
