Job 15-16

“Surely now God has worn me out … I was at ease, and he broke me apart” (15:7-12).  Job’s friends continued preaching their simplistic “consequences” message and blaming him for his losses (ch 15).  Job called them “miserable comforters” (16:1) and took his pain straight to God, expressing his shock and grief at how his good life had been turned upside down.  He asked for his “witness in heaven” to plead his case, as a friend or neighbor (16:19-22), before God’s throne.

Job grieved that life wasn’t fair, yet he clung to the truth that God is good and just.  Our Creator will not allow evil to triumph in our lives or in the world.
