Psalm 97

“The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory” (v6).  The psalmist tells us that God’s righteousness and justice (v2) are the foundation of the world, and His glory is inescapable.  God extends an invitation to serve Him freely, but one day all “worshipers of images” will be put to shame (v7), and His enemies will fall before Him (v3).  Today, He calls us to reject self-centered idolatry and live as part of His coming kingdom. “O you who love the LORD, hate evil! (v10).

We can trust that our hope in God will not be disappointed, and His kingdom will be victorious. “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart” (v11).
