Isaiah 16-17
/“Give counsel; grant justice; make your shade like night at the height of noon; shelter the outcasts; do not reveal the fugitive” (16:3). Moab, like Damascus and Judah (ch 17), was going to be invaded by the Assyrians. As Isaiah proclaimed judgment on nations, he also commanded Judah to shelter those fleeing the chaos, anticipating a better day when “a throne will be established in steadfast love, and on it will sit in faithfulness … One who judges and seeks justice and is swift to do righteousness" (16:5).
One day, Jesus will appear to judge and renew the earth. Until then, we, His body, are living ambassadors of His mercy, righteousness, and steadfast love.
