Isaiah 54-55

“Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant” (55:3).  Through Isaiah, when Israel was weak and fearful, God called the people to return to His covenant of love.   The prophet urged them not to cling to superficial religion, but to “seek the Lord while He may be found” (55:6).  Salvation was different and bigger than they imagined: through his own righteousness and suffering, the Messiah would open the blessings of God’s kingdom to “everyone who thirsts” (55:1).  

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters” (v1).  God’s invitation is open; if we recognize that we are thirsty, His living water satisfied us.
