Ephesians 4

“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, which is Christ … when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love (v15-16).  Paul taught that we are saved for a purpose; we are meant to “grow up” into full maturity in Christ (v13).  We are called to put off the old self – deceit, bitterness, destructive anger, rude and unclean speech (v22-31) – and put on “the new self.”  
Mature Christians are gentle with others because they are personally overwhelmed by Christ’s love. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (v32).
