Psalm 124

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side … then the flood would have swept us away” (v1,4).  In crisis, we see that we are vulnerable to all kinds of “floods” that may sweep us away.  Yet God is merciful, and He rescues us from “the raging waters” that threaten to drown us.  When we ask, He even sets us free from the sin that traps us.  “We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!” (v7).

“Our help is in the name of the Lord” (v8).  The more we call on God’s help, the more we know Him personally as Savior and refuge.
