Jeremiah 7-8
/“Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you” (7:12). Israel continued to worship in the Temple and make sacrifices, but their hearts were far from God. “Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods … and then come and stand before me in this house?” (7:9-10). Jeremiah saw the terrible consequences of their rebellion and mourned. “My heart is sick within me” (8:18).
“Amend your ways and your deeds” (7:3). Religious identity and words aren’t enough; God wants us to love and serve Him from the heart (Luke 6:46).
