Genesis 18-19
/“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” (18:25). In the middle of God’s promises and covenant with Abraham, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah interrupts and demonstrates fallen humanity at its worst, full of violence and hate. Amid such evil, Abraham intercedes and God listens: “for the sake of 10, I will not do it.” God desires to bless and not condemn; He is slow in anger. Yet, for those who refuse to listen, like Lot’s sons-in-law, it leads to their destruction.
In our broken and fallen world, we should be intercessors and do all we can to lead people out of destruction and instead into God’s blessing.
