Matthew 24-25

“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (24:44).  Jesus told his followers that it was pointless to try to predict his return, because only the Father knows (24:36).  Instead, he told them how to live in the meantime as “faithful and wise servants” (v45).  Like the virgins, we should be eagerly looking for Jesus’ return (not distracted or asleep); we should invest our resources for God’s kingdom, and we should feed the hungry and help the oppressed (25:35).
“Inherit the kingdom prepared for you” (25:34).  Because of the resurrection, we know that our work and our lives matter not just in this life, but for eternity.
