Genesis 1-3

“Then God said, "Let us make [humanity] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion … over all the earth” (1:26).  God gave humans a very high calling: to be His representatives on earth, caring for His creation and continuing His work as sub-architects of the world.  He even walked among them in Eden.  But for Adam and Eve, reflecting God’s image and carrying out His good purposes wasn’t enough; they wanted to be like Him in power and knowledge (3:5-6). 

“I hid myself” (3:10).  Sin brings trouble into our relationships with God, one another, and work. But Jesus takes away our shame and brings us back into perfect fellowship with our Father.
