Deuteronomy 32
/“Then he forsook God who made him and scoffed at the Rock of his salvation” (v15). Moses described the future Israel as a chosen, loved child who had been raised by God and then, once he was successful, “forgot the God who gave you birth” (v18). Turning to false idols, Israel worshipped “demons that were no gods” (v17) and therefore had no power against their real enemies (v30-31). God allowed them to experience the destructiveness of sin and yet had compassion on them (v36).
“For it is no empty word for you, but your very life” (v47). God’s warnings are not empty words; His way is the only way to experience abundant life.
