John 21:15-25
/"Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs” (v15). Jesus spoke these words to Peter three times, emphasizing the importance of this new commission (and perhaps healing the memory of Peter’s betrayal). Up to this point, most of the disciples’ focus had been on learning from Jesus himself; now, said Jesus, their love for Him would be demonstrated by caring for and teaching others.
“Follow me” (v19). Following Jesus is not just about “our personal relationship.” Our love for Him means that our entire lives are different, and we care for others as He did.
