Psalm 52

“Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day” (v1).  Doeg the Edomite (v1) was a killer of priests, and he also betrayed David when Saul was pursuing him.  His words caused destruction, he loved evil more than good (v2-3), and he tried to create security without God (v7).  But the psalmist said that these efforts were destined to fail; God would “uproot” the wicked (v5).

“But I am like a green olive tree in the house of the Lord” (v8).  We don’t have to fear evil or the storms of life; when our roots are in God, He holds us securely forever.
