Mark 2-4

“Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to harm, to save life or to kill?” (3:4).  While those who were sick, trapped, and needy accepted Jesus with joy, some religious leaders didn’t think Jesus matched the kingdom of God they had been expecting.  He ate with sinners, and he didn’t seem concerned with Sabbath laws.  Jesus’ words and actions demonstrated the difference between their kingdom (which humans could control) and God’s real kingdom – where people were forgiven, healed, and welcomed.

“It is like a grain of mustard seed …” (4:31).  In bringing God’s kingdom, Jesus brings disruption (we must repent), but the end result is healing, restoration, and the life we were meant to live (4:32).
