Luke 19:28-48
/“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” (v38). The Pharisees were bothered by the crowds’ exuberant praise of Jesus, but Jesus welcomed it (v40). While receiving their praise, however, Jesus did everything possible to make sure that people knew what God’s Kingdom (and the King) was really like. For example, he kicked people out of the Temple who thought it was about profit-making rather than prayer (v45-46).
Jesus wept over people who clung to their self-serving ideas of the kingdom and rejected “the things that make for peace” (v42). Receiving Jesus means humbly accepting His rule of goodness and sacrificial love.
