Proverbs 7
/“Keep my teaching as the apple of your eye” (v2). In a world false promises of happiness, the proverbs teach us to hold God’s Word close, like an “intimate friend” (v4), so that we stay on the right path. Like all temptations, the “adulteress” looks enticing: smooth words, the attractive invitation, the secret moment. But yielding to wrong desires is like an ox going to slaughter; “He does not know that it will cost him his life” (v23).
“Let not your heart turn aside …” (v25). God wants to keep us from self-destruction; when we follow His path, we find true joy and peace that is deep and unshakeable.
