Numbers 33-34

“When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan, then you shall … destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their metal images and demolish all their high places” (33:51-52).  The Israelites were called to follow two commands from God as they settled in Canaan, the Promised Land.  They had to trust God to defend and fight for them, no matter the strength of the enemy (32:7-12), and they had to completely reject the idolatry of Canaan and instead live holy lives.

“You shall take possession of the land” (v53).  Faith and obedience are just as important for us, as we “take possession” of the joyful, redeemed lives God desires for us.
