Judges 13

“So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering, and offered it on the rock to the LORD, to the one who works wonders, and Manoah and his wife were watching” (v19). Because the Israelites had been “doing evil” instead of following God, they been oppressed by the Philistines for a generation (v1).  In this terrible time, Manoah and his wife received a prophecy that they would have a son who would “begin to save Israel” (v5), but it was hard to believe.  Israel didn’t deserve God’s help.

The angel messenger’s name was “wonderful” (v18).  It is truly wonderful that despite our rebellion and darkness, God reaches out to us, and He sent His own Son to save us.
