Esther 2

“Now Esther was winning favor in the eyes of all who saw her” (v9,15,17). Esther’s ability to win “favor” with the harem officials, as well as with the king, pointed to God’s power in her life despite her weak position. Like Joseph, another young person caught up in events beyond his control, Esther did not choose the palace, yet her quiet acceptance and humility (v15) brought blessing. Esther had no personal power (being a Jewish woman in Persia), yet God used her to bless and rescue thousands.

“He set the royal crown on her head” (v17) – an orphaned Jewish exile became queen of Persia. Whatever our circumstances, we can serve God’s purposes in the world as we submit to Him.
