I Kings 17
/“As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives … there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word" (v1). Elijah prophesied that a drought was beginning. The wicked king Ahab had rejected God’s rule and His ways, and only dramatic events would convince people that “the God of Israel” had power on earth and heaven. Elijah himself was fed by ravens, the household where he stayed miraculously “ate for many days” (v15), and the widow’s son was revived (v23).
“Do not fear …” (v13). The world’s powers (like Ahab) are no match for the One who created everything. We can trust that His Word will always prevail.
