I Chronicles 4

“Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me …” (v10).  Jabez, an “honorable” man (v9), was singled out in the middle of a long genealogy.  Rather than simply accept the situation he was born into, Jabez called out personally to God, believing that with God’s help his life could change.  Gaining more land was not just a selfish goal, but part of God’s desire at that time to make a secure home for His people.

“And God granted what he asked” (v10).  God wants us to believe in Him and take His character and His promises seriously.
